About Us

My first time ever seeing a staffy was a the Chicago International Kennel Club show at the Chicago Amphitheater this is where the love of the breed started.

I found Dancer my first staffy in 1980. She was 8 months old. I took Dancer to obedience class with Trail Creed Dog Training Club at 8.5 months old. Started with a beginners class and then we stayed to watch the advanced class. I was hooked. I was mentored by several club members and encouraged to go to a obedience match. We got a ribbon. I then trained Dancer thru "open" and while working on the "utility" exercises we went to show her in conformation. Dancer received her AKC Championship and her Utility Degree in obedience. She is the "first" champion, utility degree Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the breed. She also received group placers in conformation and 1st thru 4th placements in obedience. Later, I trained her to track.

Dancer was a Canadian Ch. A CDX Title in Canadian A United Kennel CDX. She was bred to Guardstocks Red Atom (The first American Best in Show Staffy). Dancer had her hips x-rayed for dysplasia and her eyes tested for any eye problems before ever being bred. That was when Staffies rarely had these tests done. To date I have had 3 OFA excellents from my line of bred Staffies. There are only 5 recorded in the breed since recognized by AKC in 1974. I think those Trail Creek Club Members who mentored me those early days and set me on the right path for sound structure in my line bred animals.

Dancer had one fawn and white puppy with Red Atom. Red Atom was bred by Mr. Ed Strand in Chicago, IL. Ed had bred American Staffordshire Bull Terriers before going into breeding Staffordshire Bull Terriers. He gets the credit for American's first Staffy Best in Show. Congrats to you Ed! Mrs. Judy Daniels put that Best in Show on Red Atom. Congrats go to you Judy! He was a great dog and gave me a great Dog in his son, UKC. CDX. AM. CAN Ch. Steinstaff Goin' For The Gusto HDT.

Gusto was a "Special" He had a delightful personality, loved life and "went for the gusto" in everything he did. Showed in obedience the same days showing in Conformation. Take placements in obedience classes and multiple group placements in conformation. He was Canadian Champion and a Canadian C.D.X. He was the first "Champion" tracking Staffy.

Please take a look at the profiles of our dogs. Though many of our Staffies are serious contenders within the show dog circles, the vast majority of our Staffies go to families that just want a beautiful, smart dog. These dogs are athletic and prefer owners who willing to walk and play with them daily.

Various puppies are available for sale throughout the year. Please call for pricing. Please take a look at our Staffy Puppies.
